Arthur¶
Rogue member of the Chrono Conundrum party. Killed in Session 44; confirmed dead and absent from the epilogue per the Ending Outline.
Overview¶
A widower haunted by his wife's murder throughout the campaign — the killer, a drow "Inquisitor" serving Magus, becomes a recurring personal antagonist. Resourceful, mischievous, and often the party's infiltrator (disguises, lockpicking, invisibility), Arthur carries grief that surfaces repeatedly through hallucinations, nightmare sequences, and his fraught, guilt-driven relationship with Daphne, whom he repeatedly promises (via a literal pinky-promise) to protect.
History¶
Arthur is present from Session 0 and serves as the party's primary scout and thief throughout. He identifies magic items, negotiates with NPCs (William, Melcher, various guards) through bluffs and disguises, and repeatedly runs into visions and manifestations tied to his wife's death, including confirming, in Session 32, that the wounds of an ally (Mr. Frog) match his wife's killer's method. In Session 44, fighting the black dragon Azalea/Azazael in the volcano lizardfolk lair, Arthur is bitten clean in half and dies instantly.
The Ending Outline's Confirmed Details table lists Arthur simply as "Dead and gone. Not in epilogue."
