Demyra Windsor

Firstborn of the Windsor triplets, daughter of Laethan Windsor and Daphne Windsor. A bard, described in the Ending Outline as "her father's daughter: charm, performance, and something dangerous underneath."

Played by the same player who played Daphne during Chrono Conundrum (per the Ending Outline's closing note on the dynasty).

Overview

The intended diplomat of the family — the target Aeren Sableflame's grooming scheme was actually built around, before a last-minute mask-swap redirected the abduction onto her brother Wolfgang instead. Received acceptance letters from three bardic colleges as a teenager and later attended one.

History

Demyra grew up practicing speeches "with sea foam in her hair," tuning the family lyre in duets with Wolfgang, and receiving a pet reticulated python, Noodle, at age eight (which grew to 35 feet and became, in Daphne's words, essentially a very large, very well-behaved lapdog). She was the primary object of childhood friend Bruthys Countrat's grooming by Aeren Sableflame, who spent years convincing Bruthys that Demyra needed to be "saved" from her goddess mother's influence. At sixteen, en route to the masquerade where the abduction was staged, Bruthys switched her ornate porcelain mask for his own simpler one at the last second and gave it to Wolfgang, sparing Demyra and dooming Wolfgang to be taken in her place — something Demyra was not told at the time (Wolfgang Windsor Backstory.docx).

During Wolfgang's year-plus captivity, Demyra kept Noodle "coiled around her like armor" and did not sleep well; she also worked in parallel with Cassian to hunt for leads on Wolfgang's whereabouts, tracing the family name Sableflame through records and connections while Cassian worked contacts directly (Additional Materials/Cassian_Windsor_Backstory.md).

She attended Bard College during Wolfgang's four years training at Castle Orion, where she formed a band and a three-person "throuple" with a drow musician/tattoo artist named Eleni and an eladrin drummer named Joifra ("Joi"). Per Cassian's own account, he unknowingly slept with both Eleni (while visiting Demyra during college) and, separately, Joifra (after Demyra graduated and the throuple had ostensibly parted ways) — a coincidence all three siblings find hilarious rather than fraught once it comes to light.

For the triplets' 18th birthday, Cassian gifted Demyra a longbow that folds into a violin, crafted from Achilles's shed antlers ("The college won't know what hit them").

When Wolfgang returned home at twenty-one, Demyra was instrumental in helping him relearn to make music — since his tattered left hand could no longer manage lyre chords, she gave him a hand-drum instead ("Don't try to be gentle, Wolf... just keep the time"). She, Cassian, and Wolfgang later got matching Windsor family crest tattoos from Eleni, Demyra's own design, which Daphne empowered with sibling-Sending and Locate Creature magic.

Personality

Diplomatic, sharp-tongued, competitive with her brothers (particularly over who "looks more like Dad"), protective, quick with both comfort and comebacks.
