Belgarian

Druid member of the Chrono Conundrum party.

Overview

Formerly the sole protector of a small village and an ancient shrine in his home forest. He let his guard down for a man posing as a scholar, who turned out to be a warlock — the warlock destroyed Belgarian's village and left him with a facial scar he carries as a permanent reminder (told to the party in Session 8). Wildshape-versatile in and out of combat (lion, spider, rhinoceros, polar bear, various birds, and more across the campaign), and frequently the party's voice of caution and translation (fluent in Draconic).

History

Belgarian joins the party from Session 0 and serves throughout the campaign as scout, healer-adjacent support, and moral center — often the one negotiating with hostile factions (cultists, hags, drow) rather than fighting them outright, a habit that occasionally puts him at odds with Laethan. He loses connection to nature and feels physically "hungover" whenever the party passes through the corrupted future timeline (the "258 AL" zombie-apocalypse era), a signal of just how badly that future has gone wrong.

The Ending Outline (Planned Canon)

Per the outline, Belgarian spends the Gap Year tracking Kaelion (never catching him, but "leaving a scar on his reputation") and building a network of druids across the Sword Coast, eventually founding a new grove — explicitly framed as existing because Kaelion burned the original one down. He attends the Windsor wedding.
