Truce (Enhasa / the Millennium Fair)¶
The single location the Chrono Conundrum party returns to again and again — under different names, rulers, and conditions — across every era of the timeline they travel through.
Overview¶
The same geographic point in the world appears as:
- The Millennium Fair, present day (Sessions 0–1) — where the party first meets, at a festival with a pie-eating contest, a drinking contest, and a stage magician's teleporter act.
- Truce, ~150 years earlier (Sessions 3–10, 16–20, 26–34) — a kingdom at war with "monsters" (with tieflings, having sided with the monsters, treated as suspect), ruled by a King and Queen the party rescues from a poisoning plot.
- Truce, 258 AL ("After Lavos") (Sessions 11–15) — a post-apocalyptic ruin overrun by zombies, ruled by a cannibal-cultist "chieftain" in a walled-off suburb, worshipping Lavos.
- Enhasa, a floating city ruled by Queen Zeal — the setting of the party's final played sessions (46–51) and the entire Ending Outline. Reached via a barrier the party has to breach, guarded by anti-magic constructs and wanted posters bearing the party's own faces.
History¶
The party first passes through the fair as a group of relative strangers, quickly getting pulled into royal intrigue (the missing princess Marle) and time travel via Lucca's device. Each subsequent visit reveals a different consequence of choices made (or not yet made) in other eras — a bell the party rings repeatedly across timelines, a cathedral that is sometimes standing and sometimes ruins, a goblin camp Laethan burns down in Session 2 whose ashes recur as a landmark in later visits.
By the Ending Outline, Enhasa (Queen Zeal's floating city) is the site of the party's arrest, Demeter's imprisonment, Kaelion's coup and Queen Zeal's death, and the opening act of the campaign's intended finale.
