Elysia Moreau¶
Daughter of Ravina Moreau and Draven Moreau; an aasimar divination wizard and court mage to Duke Athtar of Moonveil, who becomes Trout's partner after Daphne's resurrection, and mother of his son Ezra.
Overview¶
Elysia first appears only in Chrono_Conundrum_Ending_Outline.docx.md (Planned Canon, never played). Additional Materials/The_Last_Diamondback_or_Bound_by_Blood.md (Bridge Material) gives her a full account roughly ten years later: an aasimar with long black hair and luminous blue eyes "like stars," tall enough to stand twice Trout's height, serving as court mage to Duke Athtar of Moonveil. She is a powerful diviner — her dreams reliably foretell the future — and channels genuine celestial power: her voice carries divine authority, her wings unfold as pure starlight, and dragons can smell "divine power" in her blood.
History¶
Per the Ending Outline, Elysia is present alongside her parents at Daphne's resurrection ritual at the volcano. She and Trout actually meet later, at the Windsor wedding — "something grows slowly" between them from there, sustained afterward mostly through letters (Trout always includes a drawing) carried by her familiar.
The_Last_Diamondback_or_Bound_by_Blood.md picks up the relationship roughly ten years after the Chrono Conundrum campaign. Elysia summons Trout to Moonveil by urgent Sending to help kill the Dread Gloom, which has seized a vassal's castle and is slowly destroying the duchy. She arranges Trout's contract with Duke Athtar, then insists on joining the hunt herself over Trout's unspoken worry. Alongside Trout and his old rival Rodrick, she helps clear a village of lizardfolk raiders (scouting via her familiar Samara and reading the battlefield with her clairvoyance) and reaches the ruined castle with them.
At the castle she is the one who works out that the Dread Gloom is a dracolich — her most powerful spell, Finger of Death, inexplicably fails against it — and, guided by a dream vision of a "vaulted room with stained glass," locates its phylactery: a gem embedded in the chest of an amnesiac warforged lying unconscious in the dragon's horde. She destroys the phylactery, making the dragon mortal again, moments before it collapses the tower on her; she survives by escaping to the Ethereal Plane, watching Trout's anguished reaction to her apparent death from just out of reach. She rejoins the fight with radiant, starlight aasimar wings and helps bring the dragon down for good, and is the one who names the awakened warforged's role: "How about Hephaestus?" (Trout's suggestion, taken up on the spot).
Afterward, she and Trout finally act on their feelings, beginning a relationship that Duke Athtar (correctly) suspects immediately. She uses her own share of the reward and her magic to help rebuild the ruined castle into Castle Orion, personally warding it and adding a teleportation circle, and etches the constellation marks onto Hephaestus's breastplate that give the Order of the Stars its name. She and Trout have a son, Ezra, and her continued gift for prophetic dreams recurs even after his birth ("I saw a red wolf running beneath the stars" — likely foretelling Wolfgang Windsor's arrival).
Whether Elysia is present in Gods and Dragons alongside Trout at Castle Orion by the time of Wolfgang's or Cassian's training is not stated outright in Older Trout Stories.md or Wolfgang Windsor Backstory.docx, neither of which mention her by name.
Abilities¶
Divination magic (precognitive dreaming, clairvoyance via her familiar, mind-reading/telepathy with Trout's consent), evocation (fireball, lightning bolt, wall of fire), necromancy (Finger of Death — ineffective against the undead Dread Gloom), teleportation, and innate aasimar features (starlight wings, a divine "signature" other creatures and dragons can sense).
