Order of the Wraith

Seated at Castle Mournhold, the order that studied the occult, the undead, and the dead themselves — wiped out by a rare blood disease called Red Rot.

Overview

All Ghostslayers, the Wraith specialized in undead, ghosts, specters, curses, and necromancers, and held a deep reverence for death itself. They maintained elaborate memorial traditions, believed the dead deserved dignity, and some hunters even took vows of silence. Their sigil was a ghostly hand clutching a bloody dagger. Of all the newer orders, the Wraith remained the most closely aligned in outlook and temperament to the Order of the Abyss.

History

The Wraith kept to the old, Abyss-aligned ways during the Schism rather than joining the Order of the Dragon's reforms. Generations later, they were wiped out by an epidemic of Red Rot, "a very rare and very deadly blood disease" — a fate independently corroborated by Farrow's account in Older Trout Stories.md ("hit by some kind of blood disease").
